Step aboard the ferry and pay your fare—Coins for Charon is a haunting, fragmented glimpse into the post-60s poetic underworld. This 1976 collection brings together four distinct voices—Mahmood Jamal’s sharp-edged lyricism, David Audun’s surreal wanderings, David Jay’s brooding introspection, and Elisabeth Young’s cool, cerebral bite. Published by the little-known but ambitious Courtfield Press, the anthology crackles with the spirit of a generation unsure whether to mourn or revolt.
Unapologetically raw, defiantly obscure, and printed on the kind of paper that already smells like the past, this is a rare relic for poetry lovers, counterculture collectors, or anyone who enjoys shouting into the void with style.
Available in gently battered condition from Crappy Old Books—where forgotten gems get their second afterlife.
Pretty good condition except for the big ring mark on the cover. Its not really a mark in that it can be rubbed off, its actually where the vinyl surface has been corroded away to reveal the paper fabric beneath. I know, I tried scratching it off and it only gets worse.
