This 1955 Penguin Classics edition of The Theban Plays brings together Sophocles’ tragic masterpieces—Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone—in all their doom-soaked, chorus-filled glory. Translated for the modern(ish) reader but still packed with fate, hubris, and more family drama than a holiday dinner.

Our copy? The cover’s faded, the pages are foxed, and there’s a suspicious smudge on page 12—but that just adds to the classical ambience.

Crappy Old Books – Because tragedy is better when it’s slightly crumbly.

The spine is slanted and the pages and cover fairly well used, but its binding is relativly strong.
