The Days Before Yesterday (1931) by Frederic Hamilton
Published by Hodder and Stoughton — Offered by Crappy Old Books
Step back into a bygone world with The Days Before Yesterday, Frederic Hamilton’s richly detailed memoir of Edwardian England and life in the diplomatic corps before the First World War scattered the old order. With wit, nostalgia, and a sharp eye for character, Hamilton recounts a life of privilege, politics, and pomp, from the drawing rooms of Europe to the back corridors of power.
This 1931 edition from Hodder and Stoughton shows its age — foxing, a bruised spine, and that unmistakable "old book" smell — but we think that only adds to its charm. If you’re after a pristine collector’s copy, best look elsewhere. But if you fancy a comfortably worn volume that’s clearly been read, loved, and possibly dropped in the bath, Crappy Old Books has just the one for you.
Perfect for fans of memoirs, pre-war history, or simply those who enjoy the genteel decline of empire with their tea.
Spine is slightly offset but is barely noticalbe, resulting in front board wanting to sit about 3mm forward of the back board. However, it readilbe sits flush as the spint is in good condition and flexible. Has increadible clothbinding on board resulting in very tactile feel, almost like a piece of clothing. Good condition all round.
